2018 is the 250th Anniversary of UK modern circus. Yorkshire Cupola explores audience and artist engagement through the circus experience, past and present in Yorkshire, and aims to build on the successful legacy of the past to encourage circus development in the future. The project will be achieved through a range of activities focussed around the creation and curation of sculptures, costumes and masks by Becky Truman, exhibited at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in Bradford. The exhibition partners the exhibit of a Skinning the Cat costume at the V&A Museum, which marks the company’s role in the creation of contemporary circus.
The Bradford Literature Festival in 2018 will be engaging in the circus anniversary by launching Becky Truman’s book’ Aerialist’. The book will be brought alive by an interactive performance which will tour circus anniversary events in the U.K.
